Monte Covolo is an isolated hill overlooking Villanuova sul Clisi with its western slopes characterized by a high rocky wall. The thick and compact limestone wall (Corna), eighty meters high, is a jewel of plate climbing and technical overhangs. The mountain, isolated and visible from a great distance, has been since Prehistory both a point of reference for the communities and a point of territorial delineation, so much so that it often assumes a sacred meaning.
On the western slopes of the mountain was identified in 1972 one of the most important prehistoric sites of northern Italy: a settlement organized on artificial terraces that dominated the entrance of the valley from the late Neolithic (IV millennium BC) to the Middle Bronze (XV century BC), connected with burial shelters under the cave and with areas of flint extraction. On the summit there is a place of worship from the Iron Age (VII-II century BC). The finds are exhibited at the Valle Sabbia Archaeological Museum, in Piazza S. Bernardino, 5, in Gavardo (BS).

The routes, opened in the 70s by a group of enthusiasts, are about fifty of sixth, seventh and eighth grade. The nailing is excellent and the exposure mainly facing west allows climbing both in the mid-seasons and in the summer mornings, since the wall remains in the shade until about 2:00 PM. Routes mainly of seventh and some of eighth grade, very technical, intense and of resistance
Mainly sixth-grade routes on slabs and technical bulges of holes and small bars, often combined with second pitches
Walking through the woods you often find blackberries and wild strawberries. The climate, in fact, is ideal for the cultivation of small fruits such as strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and currants to be consumed fresh, when in season, or transformed into jam, to taste the sweetness of summer even in the coldest season.
